DXP Forms

As the designer for this product, I was involved thought all the development cycle, leading the design initiatives, from the refinement of the business data that we collect from multiple sources (feature requests from the customer, support team, advisory firms evaluations, and customers board), to the problem definition, to conceptualization, to executing visual design, to collaborate with engineers to archive a high-level of polishing to the final product.

Tool

Forms is a powerful form tool that helps big organizations to replace their paper forms into digital ones. It's part of the Business Operations suite for Liferay DXP.

Form Builder

The Building Experience

Its Form Builder is powered by advanced forms tools like support to multi-columns layout, advanced rule builder, external databases (data providers), reusable group of fields, and attachment to workflow processes.

The main navigation for the Form Builder is combined in the sidebar: Builder, Rules, and Settings. By grouping everything together in a single place, we make it easy to create a form without increasing the interaction cost.

Fieldset

Designing For Efficiency and Scalability

One of the main challenges of designing for the enterprise context is to create tools that can handle large amounts of data and be able to scale for big operations. Fieldset is an away to speed up the creation of form through a set of reusable field groups that can be shared with the whole organization.

Forms Summary

Turning Data Into Actionable Insights

With the release of Summary, customers are able to get insights by analyzing data they collect from their forms to make better and faster business decisions.

For each field type was created a summary card using the appropriate chart type taking into consideration things like reading and scannability experience for each data type.

During the development cycle, through our data from the customer support team, we noticed that there were some tickets related to the difficulty that some of our customers had to handle forms with hundreds of fields. Taking this scenario into consideration we thought it would be useful to have a quicker way to navigate through extensive forms summary pages.

The user view experience was completely redesigned in the newest version of DXP Forms. The new design is simpler, putting the focus on its content, has a more scalable pagination component, and its visual design is more aligned with the company's design system guidelines.

Data Engine

Collecting and Managing Data

As the design leader for the Business Operations Suite, I'm also responsible for designing the data fields, components and interactions that compose the Data Engine team technologies, which provide the core components for the development of our set of products (Forms, App Builder, and Workflow).
